Another Hammonasset alert, this one forwarded from Stop Griswold Overdevelopment related to the Griswold Airport development plans.  The alert focuses on the tax implications of this development, but birders can add another perspective:

On April 11, citizens opposed to current plans for development of the Griswold Airport site will have a chance to speak out.  The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will be holding a Public Hearing to address opposition to the wastewater treatment permit for this planned development.  Every voice counts.

o       Pollution of this precious tidal marsh will damage the 

Hammonasset River - Hammonasset State Park - Long Island Sound

o       The proposed wastewater system is experimental and unreliable.

o       Pollution will cause increase of INVASIVE SPECIES

o       Pollution may result in MANDATED SEWER SYSTEM
