4/19 Madison, Hammonasset Beach S.P., 6:00-7:20pm:
drab adult WHITE-FACED IBIS (7:10pm in large rainpool
at west end, thanks to Luke Tiller), LITTLE BLUE
HERON, BLUE-WINGED TEAL. The white-faced ibis could
not be found until late, when it was in the said
rainpool with 22+ glossy ibis. They flushed and all
flew west, presumably heading for a night roost
somewhere. Another flock of 12 of so glossies did the
same thing. (This rainpool is a real magnet for ibis,
gulls, and shorebirds.) In searching, I saw no ibis
in the salt marshes; only in the rainpools.
4/19 Westport, Compo Beach Rd., Gray's Creek: 1
YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON. And 1 gray,
basic-plumaged dowitcher, sp. on the Longshore golf
course rainpools.
