My daughter in Philadelphia called me in a panic this  morning.  Getting off 
the bus in downtown Philly, she found a bird which  she picked up and tried 
bringing to a downtown vet (it was closed). A  co-worker from her office thought 
she was crazy.    It probably  hit a window from one of the buildings.
"Ma, it's beautiful and soooo  different".   She got a phone number from 
Tri state bird rescue and a licensed bird  rehabilitator came to pick up the 
bird.  It was a  woodcock.  During the past 2 days of foggy, nasty weather in  
Philly, the bird probably got disoriented.  Apparently there was another  
woodcock who was also brought in.
But this Thanksgiving my daughter said she won't  have turkey in honor of the 
woodcock she  rescued.
