[CT Birds] Winter Hummingbird

In addition to the Selasphorus that was in Willington in mid-October, there was a late Ruby-throat nearby that was still coming to feeders at the end of the month.  I'm not sure if it is still around.

This isn't the first one of the year as there has already been a selasphorus hummingbird that was/is coming to a feeder in Tolland CT that arrived in mid October. You can read about the rarities that have shown up in CT and surrounding states here: http://www.nehummers.com/NEHummSelas2007.htm In fact the whole New England Hummers website is probably of interest to those who particularly love hummingbirds and there are some ways for birders to participate in the monitoring project by submitting their sightings.
