11/23 - New Haven, Lighthouse Point Park Hawkwatch - 1 CAVE SWALLOW, 6 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, 3,400 Grackles, 1,970 Blackbirds, 510 Cedar Waxwings, 155 Cowbirds, 180 Goldfinches, 90 American Robins, 3 Pine Siskins, 20 House Finches, 27 Purple Finches, 210 Unidentified Finches, 1 Surf Scoter flyover, 8 Pipits, 4 Horned Larks in the park, and an Eastern Towhee singing in the woods.
Raptors: 66 total including 1 TV, 2 Horthern Harriers, 20 Sharpies, 12 Coops, 1 immature Northern Goshawk, 6 Red-shouldered Hawks, 15 Red-tailed Hawks, 1 late American Kestrel, 5 Merlins, 1 Peregrine Falcon, and an unidentified raptor, and....
Best show of the day: An immature Bald Eagle carrying a small duck which it had probably taken in the cove to the north (judging by the crow commotion over there), flew over the field being harrassed by the crow and gull entourage, dropped the duck over the marsh, and was later observed flying back to the north.
