[CT Birds] Gulls and bread

Last winter there was a Black-headed Gull in Chicago that many of us had  the 
pleasure of watching go from basic to alternate plumage.  Everyone was  
feeding it bread, and it grew visibly fatter as the weeks went by.  When it  
finally disappeared, there was some speculation that it may have exploded, a la  
Monty Python's Meaning of Life (it was not re-sighted in WI, unlike previous  
Black-headeds, nor has it returned here)...
