I poked around the New/East Haven area late this morning mainly in
search of crossbills (unsuccessful). The East Shore Park swallow
situation continues to be in a state of flux. This morning there were
6 swallows feeding over the sewage plant, 3 CAVE SWALLOWS and 3
NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS. While checking the pines at Fort Hale
Park, an immature BROAD-WINGED HAWK passed low overhead.

Highlights:
New Haven, East Shore Park - 3 CAVE SWALLOWS, 3 Northern Rough-winged
Swallows, 1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet, 1 Palm
Warbler, 1 Common Yellowthroat
New Haven, Fort Hale Park - 1 immature Broad-winged Hawk

Extralimitally, some great birds have been found over the past few
days. Lesser Nighthawk in NJ, Bell's Vireo in RI, Western Grebe and
Hoary Redpoll in MA, Pink-footed Goose in NY, and as many as 6
Ash-throated Flycatchers between MA, NY, and NJ in the past few days!
