Orange backyard feeder
I fill my backyard feeders (and bird baths) every morning as the birds wait
in the trees to get their breakfast. This morning, "my" Red breasted
nuthatch apparently was impatient.
It dive bombed me as I was removing the sunflower chip feeder to refill it.
I heard its wings next to my head.
It sat in the branches just an arm length from me as I filled the feeder .
I hung the feeder back up and the RB nuthatch immediately came to one of the
perches on the feeder. I just stood there watching it as it hopped to the
other perches on the feeder and it watched me as well. We were so close to
each other. It grabbed a seed and flew off. It was a very personal and special
nature moment for me. Several years ago, I had one brave chickadee land on
my hand as I was filling my feeders, and this was my second up close and
personal moment with a feathered backyard visitor. Very cool!
