I had always been under the impression that House Sparrows did not like
Niger seed. However, they started emptying my right-side up thistle
feeder so I switched to an upside down version. Besides goldfinch,
which other birds commonly eat at the upside down feeders. (Some of the
House Sparrows still shoulder their way in, turn upside down, and
manage to get a few seeds before breaking off.)
Thanks,
Richard
