12/3 - From Sarah Johnston:
Farmington -- 2 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES (m,f) continue at feeder; they have been visiting our feeders almost daily since mid-October; 6 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS at Riverside Cemetery

I drove through this small cemetery this afternoon with my daughter to revel in the slanting sun on the ice-covered trees --- we saw the blue birds on the lower level near the maintenance buildings. I noticed a few trees heavily laden with fruit (ornamental crab apple?) though they were encased in ice. I will try to get back there to look for Pine Grosbeaks and others that may seek out the fruit... This little roadway (paved) goes right next to the Farmington River and looks out over part of the Meadows. I've seen mergansers, osprey, herons, ducks, geese, etc., here (in their proper seasons). In the summer, the cemetery hosts tanagers, RB grosbeaks, warblers, etc. A pretty spot.
