12/12 noon Enfield, State Land, Shaker Rd.
Seems like the officials at the State Prison in Enfield either mow the
fields too soon in the spring before the nesting birds are fledged or else
when it's really late like today on Shaker Rd. Dried grass is higher than
the full size tractor cutting it, but half the field was done and an
AMERICAN KESTREL was perched on a now exposed stake in the middle of the
field. His colors were so rich, deep blues and brown, and crisp white
markings on his face.
Also had 2 BROWN CREEPERS on the suet tree at home on Ninth District and 40+
Black Ducks and 4 Green-winged teal on Hutton Rd. farm pond.
