There has been a report of a first-winter Ivory Gull, seen on private property, last Saturday in Rhode Island.
The bird was not present on Sunday. Allegedly 30 people got to see the bird, but as yet there has been no mention of the site, nor photos, though surely there must be some.
Ivory Gull is a highly-sought after vagrant. After the all-too brief sojurn of the Tappanzee, NY adult earlier this year, a twitchable one south of Maine would be greatly appreciated.
Perhaps someone can provide more details or photos to confirm the report, since if there are more people on the lookout, it may get refound.
Birders in CT should be on alert for anything that looks like an albino, mud-splattered pigeon.
