As part of the Greenwich/Stamford CBC, some observations in addition to Brian O'Toole's
post: most of the Canada Geese sighted appeared to be in migration mode (rather late
in the season), not a single Double-crested Cormorant was found!

Other species sighted throughout coastal Old Greenwich and part of Stamford:
Black-bellied Plovers - 6
Ruddy Turnstones - 50 (thanks, John!)
Savannah Sparrow
Swamp Sparrow
American Tree Sparrow
Northern Flicker
American Coot
Gadwall - 15
Greater Scaup - 32
Green-winged Teal (count period)
For Dennis Varza: 59 Ring-billed Gulls, 235 Herring Gulls, 16 Greater Black-backed Gulls.

>From Meredith Sampson:
12/15 - Old Greenwich, Greenwich Point -- AMERICAN PIPIT, HORNED LARK,
3 SNOW BUNTINGS, BONAPARTE'S GULL, 3 NORTHERN GANNETS,
         YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, 2 CACKLING GEESE.
         - Old Greenwich, Meadow Road --YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER.
         - Home feeder -- PURPLE FINCH.

What a great CBC! A beautiful day for birding with great birds, though we could have done without all that ice underfoot - slipped and fell only once with no injury to body or pride and
$$ optics and camera.
Thanks to all the partipants - a wonderful, good-natured and dedicated crew who discovered such terrific birds, and made for a fun compilation dinner.
Good luck to future 2007 CBC'ers. Now if this wacky weather would only ease up a bit....
Be safe out there!

Meredith Sampson
