Patrick - after you left my uncle and I saw 3 SNOW BUNTINGS in with about 15
Horned Larks. Also 2 immature WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS on top of the
landfill.
Later in the day (1:45-2:20), I went back to see if any good gulls had shown up,
but no luck. Saw exactly 10 Horned Larks, but nothing else mixed in, so who
knows if they were part of the group seen earlier. Down below the landfill along
the dirt road (a left before the dog pound), there was a male YELLOW-BELLIED
SAPSUCKER, 4 White-throated Sparrows, a Blue Jay, about 10 Robins and
about 40 Starlings feeding on the fruit of a absolutely loaded 40-foot cherry? tree.
My CBC day was cut short because walking the power line cuts was too much
work in the snow. I ended up with 40 (# of the day) species.
