Dear Joe Bear,

Yes - I believe Redpolls do normally stick together as a flock, and
sometimes large flocks. This year, at least the early part of it, seems
to show some singles and small groups, which might have been seperated
from their original flocks, stay at our feeders till other flocks are
located.
But: as the winter progresses, more flocks might still be wandering and
coming and be concentrated by the snow and cold and food sources, and
our feeders might just be one of these sources. I think more large
flocks might show up at feeders during the heart of the winter - Jan,
Feb etc.
This is just a guess.........

Paul Carrier -
ps) still have my single Redpoll in with 6 Siskins - for 5 weeks
now....
