Chester, 12/18: 11 CEDAR WAXWINGS roosting in one of our oak trees this morning. I've heard them pretty consistently for about a month now, everytime I go out to feed the birds around sunrise; but this is the first time I've caught sight of them. They fly off pretty quickly, probably disturbed by my activity around the feeders.
Also 43 WILD TURKEYS, the largest mixed flock we've had for any winter (they usually average around 30 birds). Everything from first-year juveniles, to hens, to three *huge* toms - the latter are pretty unafraid of me, and come running for handouts.
