I spent about an hour on Ferry Road at Station 43 in South Windsor this
afternoon sorting through the sparrows along a weedy edge to a cornfield
about 1/2 way down the road. There was a lot of activity including a large
flock of Horned Larks with a few Snow Buntings mixed in, sparrows included:
1 Swamp, 4 White-crowned, a Vesper, several Songs, several Savannahs, a few
American Tree Sparrows, White-throated Sparrows, Dark-eyed Juncos and
Northern Cardinals. There was a large flock of Red-winged Blackbirds, and a
sub-adult male Northern Harier and a male Cooper's Hawk keeping everybody
on their toes.
