[CT Birds] Owl box

My ex-boyfriend built me an owl box many years ago and my only occupants
have been squirrels. The opening is probably good enough for small owls.
I've heard screech owls periodically. It's about 15 feet off the ground
attached to a tree that has since died - I'm hoping I can find someone who
can help me take it down and relocate it if possible - or I'll have to see
if I can make another one myself at some point.

Subject: [CT Birds] Owl box
My husband built an owl box for me for Christmas with plans he found on
the internet. Does anyone have any experience with having an owl box in
the yard? I live in Madison on Horsepond Rd. with houses all around,
some trees, some open areas. I have heard Great Horned owls in the yard,
but I know they nest on platforms. My neighbor has seen some owls in her
yard in the past but couldn't identify them. I'd appreciate any advice
about positioning the box and the size of the entrance hole. Thanks in
advance.
