I have a flock of 50+ Redpolls that has been frequenting my yard and nyjer
feeders for over three weeks now, and there are a couple of birds that are
noticeably lighter in color. (A few seem noticeably larger too, but that's
another story). Unfortunately the main feeder they use is about 75 feet from my
back door making useful photography impossible with the equipment I have.
Also, they flush or fly from 1 feeder to another frequently, making it harder
to keep track of 1 bird. The one in the pictures at the following links was
on a sock somewhat closer - about 35 feet. I've read everything on the Sibley
site and I've been staring at these and I give up. Experts please - any
chance this guy (or girl) is a candidate to be a Hoary?
