We wandered around at Devil's Hopyard State Park today in East Haddam and although the birding was slow, we saw a few Ruby-crowned Kinglets at Chapman Falls. They were busy working in the birch trees, mixed in with a bunch of Chickadees. Not sure if that's notable or not, but there you have it.

Of note in our yard...

This afternoon, our "resident" Sharp-shinned Hawk went after a Cardinal that happened to be in front of my husband who was filling the bird feeders at the time. He flew in from behind my husband and whacked my husband in the head a few times with his wings while trying to get the Cardinal. Very close call, and my poor husband nearly had a coronary from the surprise attack. Now I feel I can definitely call my husband a bird brain. :-)

The Ring-necked Pheasants have been staying here since before the CBC. They hang out in the bushes by the front and side of our place, and come out to the backyard each day to eat the bittersweet berries. They no longer seem afraid of us.

The large flocks of Robins continue to fly through daily. Today we were inundated with Cedar Waxwings, too.

Happy Birding!
