1/15 Wethersfield, Wethersfield Cove - 1 adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL.
As a side note, I was watching the gull roost when suddenly the flock spooked leaving one injured Great Black-backed Gull and a number of Common Mergs behind. An adult Bald Eagle circled the area and noticed the gull sitting on the water. The eagle swooped down and picked the gull up and brought it to the ice where it pinned it down. The gull was injured, not sick, so it had some fight left in it. The eagle began to eat it alive, plucking most of the undersides and one eye out. Meanwhile, a bunch of crows were cheering on the eagle to finish the job. The eagle let go of the gull figuring it was dead, but to our surprise (mine and the eagles) it got up and stumbled back into water. Unfortunately I had to go off to work, but I can assure there was no need to watch the end.
