[CT Birds] Bad news for Griswold Airport

At the time, it was said that the parcel lacked a connection to the public-use areas of the State Park and would pose a management challenge since vehicles would have to move between the main access areas of the park and the airport by using Route 1. The connection to the park is because of adjacency of the tidal marsh Natural Area Preserve and not the upland areas of the park.

The efforts to preserve the parcel didn't attract much excitement among the public until there was the threat of development, aside from a small team of interested locals. The initial efforts dated back to before I worked for Audubon, as it was something I had already been working on before I came to this job in 2000.
