This might be of interest to those birders looking to boost their species count for January.  On the pond in Alex Caisse park (along 195 as you enter Willimantic driving south) there was a drake wood duck mixed in with the flock of mallards and black ducks.  I didn't see if there were others as I was driving past this morning but there was at least one drake along the north side of the pond.
