Hi Pam,

As Patrick says you can certainly spend some serious cash on Binoculars and to some degree you get what you pay for. If you want the best there isn't much to pick between Zeiss, Leica and Swarovski - it really boils down to personal preference, the new Nikon EDG also promise to be a binocular to reckon with. As Patrick says though there are now plenty of very good bins available for much less than your bank breaking European brands, most of which you can try at your local dealers. Stokes/Vortex make some great affordable bins (and offer a great warranty) and the Pentax DCF series are worth a look. My inside tip at the moment is that the new Nikon means that they will probably trying to offload the old LXL's and prices will come down on them. These are the bins I use and are rated very highly (as good or close to the European brands) and already sneak in at about 2/3 of the price ,so when reduced they could be a real bargain.

Regards,

Luke
