Lead a Hartford Audubon walk Saturday morning with a few highlights. We
started of with a couple quick looks at the ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER in the area
previously reported at about 8:30.We also had really good looks at several PINE
WARBLERS in the same area.In the nature center parking lot we had two LAPLAND
LONGSPURS in with the Horned Larks. The platform at the end of Willards
Island yielded Several Common Goldeneye with a large group of Buffleheads. At the
Maigs Point jetty we had Sanderling,Dunlin,Ruddy Turnstone, and Purple
Sandpiper as well as three Surf Scoter. We ended the day off in the right hand corner
of the west beach parking lot watching at least 12 RED CROSSBILLS feeding and
drinking in the puddle feet away from us. The best looks I have personally
ever gotten. A special thanks to my father for finding them.
