[CT Birds] Ruffed Grouse

On 6/16/02 I was watching TV and looked out the back window, and to my
surprise I saw a mother grouse with 5 baseball-sized babies taking a dust bath!
This was on Amanda Drive in Manchester, which isn't the Manchester most
people know. It's a very wooded deciduous forest behind Amanda. Two other
times that June I saw the grouse, but never again since then despite walking up
in those woods a few hundred times. It was a new development at the time and a
few of the neighbors had outdoor cats that wandered the neighborhood, which I
think may have been the cause for their disappearance in this area, as well as
the Fisher I saw a few times back there.

I'm curious to hear other stories of some of the last confirmed breeding records of
Ruffed Grouse in CT.
