The PBS special on Red Kots and horseshoe crabs was so informative and so
disturbing. I am not a scientist, but how individuals can think (or not think)
that harvesting millions of horseshoe crabs will have no impact on wildlife
or the environment or their own fishing industry, is beyond me. DuPont is
making an artificial bait for the eels, so what happens when the eels are all
fished out, or if this artificial bait has contaminants that have not yet been
evaluated.
I was so upset hearing the woman speak about these delicate birds and how
she holds them in her hands...that if people could make that connection to
nature, it would affect them all. And then when the scientists go to the Arctic
to count the Red Knots there, and they can't find any................
Please someone....shake some sense into the collective conscience of this
world.
