This is great stuff Scott. I love reading these historical publications. I
would throw out two cautions to readers however. One is that the species
names are indeed historical and contextual. For instance the "Pewees"
mentioned in the beginning are almost certainly Phoebes or  more likely
Least Flycatchers, and certainly not Eastern Wood-Pewees (way too early for
Pewees). The usage of common names of species has come along way since
then, as well as the accuracy of identification to species. The second
caution I would throw out is to be sure never to reproduce in this forum
any publication, or part of any publication, that is not in the public
domain without the author's permission. This vintage stuff is surely in the
public domain, as Scott was no doubt aware, but I just want to throw that
cautionary reminder out there.
