[CT Birds] Redpolls in trouble ?

Ice storms are among the hardest of weather events for birds to make it though, but I suspect that redpolls will find ways to make it through. I would think that this is probably like a spring day in much of their nesting range. They are pretty hardy and adaptable little birds. Interesting that you're finding them more stressed than other species though. Maybe it was because they were stressed to begin with having to come so far south in search of food. The finches only tend to evacuate when there is a real food shortage up north, so I imagine that they are a bit stressed to star with in major irruption winters like this one.
