[CT Birds] Coventry and Mansfield 2-14-08

After the rain finally stopped yesterday I went to fill the  nyjer feeders 
the Redpolls had sucked almost dry and spooked an enormous Coopers  Hawk who I'm 
sure was eyeing the Redpolls.  Today the neighborhood  Red-shouldered Hawk 
decided to move into my yard despite the fact that I  chased "him" several 
times. (Links to pics attached).  I checked  Coventry, Andover and Columbia Lakes 
but found no ducks at all, just  a few  Gulls.  
At Mansfield Hollow there were 69 Ring-necked Ducks across  the street from 
the boat launch in the first cove, and 8 Hooded Mergansers  in the 2nd cove. I 
tried several other spots but didn't come up with much.   However my last stop 
was the parking lot at Eagleville Dam.  I intended to  check the lake for 
ducks, but instead saw an adult BALD EAGLE flying north, east  of Eagleville 
Lake.  Good end to a so-so day.
