For a beginning birder like me, this is truly sweet: I just looked outside my living room window to see 3 COMMON REDPOLL and a female goldfinch on the thistle feeders about 9 a.m. I've become familiar with the species through all the great photos you have posted online so thank you all. Reports are trickling in for the first day of the GBBC.  I'll try to update at least daily with highlights through the weekend. You can view the current results of the Great Backyard Bird Count for yourselves in nearly real time at the Birdsource website:

We're having The large #'s of Fox Sparrows from one location will undoubtedly need to be checked out once the technical difficulties are resolved.
