Hi All,

I could tell todays birding was going to be good when I did a quick scan of the yard for the GBBC and quickly had a Sharpie and then a Coopers Hawk buzz my feeders the regular RB Nuthatch showed and then a Pileated Woodpecker started drumming - the birds must know it is count time as it was much more active in my yard today than usual.

I then rolled up to Danbury to meet the group for todays Sunrise Birding Tour. Never straying much more than an hour from the CT border into NY we had an absolutely Mega day with Hoary and Common Redpoll at a friends feeder - a beautiful male Hoary showing down to just a handful of feet (a life bird for all including yours truly), Red-headed Woodpecker, between a dozen and 20 Rough-legged Hawks, 1 or 2 Short-eared Owls at least 2 Grey Ghost Harriers and 7 Black Vultures. All in all a pretty fantastic days birding.
