[CT Birds] Red-winged blackbirds, sign of Spring

I had a nice little flock of twenty or so male red-winged blackbirds by my feeder here in Washington, CT this AM (Sunday, 17 Feb). When I lived in NJ I always thought a sign of Spring was seeing red-wing blackbirds. Of course red-wings were likely in NJ all winter long but not always around the Trenton, NJ area all winter long.
