There was a large gathering of gulls at Wethersfield Cove Sunday afternoon,
bigger than in recent days. The flock included an adult Lesser Black-backed
Gull, likely the same bird that has been seen on and off here this winter.

There is also a sub-adult Bald Eagle hanging around the Cove in the last few
days. The bird is developing its white head. Sunday it flew out of the
trees and landed on the ice far from the gull flock. It stayed on the ice
for at least 20 minutes and tolerated three American Crows that walked right
up to it, picked at bits of whatever on the ice and hopped around the eagle.
The eagle is wearing two leg bands. There is a red band on the right leg,
and a white, or perhaps silver band on the left leg. The light Sunday
afternoon was bad, especially from a distance, despite a good scope. I
could not make out any lettering on the band, just the colors.
