Not a CT sighting (sorry!) but my wife and I were in Freeport, ME, for a wedding over the past weekend. I had been following some of the Maine sighting of waxwings, etc, and had plotted out an area to search on Saturday morning/early afternoon before the wedding. I was nearly skunked after a couple hours of driving around, only seeing a two flocks of robins in some crabapple trees, when I stumbled onto another crabapple with robins eating apples on the snow covered ground. As I watched, other birds were flying into the tree top, and it turned out to be a mixed crew of robins and waxwings. Pulling out the bino's, I was thrilled to see that they were Bohemians, not Cedars. Was able to photograph them for an hour or so before heading back for the wedding. Checked the same spot before heading home Sunday afternoon and the birds were perched high in some nearby maple trees. For whatever reason, a passing car seemed to set them off and they lifted off en masse and flew away, so we packed it in and headed back to CT.
