Numbers are starting to jump up and we finally got our first reports of PINE GROSBEAKS with 6 reported from Beach Street in Litchfield. It would be nice if we could capture any records for PiGr for over the weekend so we record the essence of this invasion for posterity.
Likewise, Common Redpoll numbers are starting to reflect this year's invasion, with 227 statewide and a high count of 57 in Coventry. I would also be nice to get a few more of the large flocks that were reported over the weekend entered to the count to capture this year's invasion for history.
The Pine Grosbeaks give us 133 species for the count, with a few still pending and some species that were reported over the weekend but not submitted to GBBC. I will try to give a summary of the misses this week in case someone may have seen any over the weekend, E.G. Anyone have Iceland Gull or Red-necked Grebe?
Still a lot of work to do to whittle down numbers of things like White-crowned Sparrows. This is where the real editing work begins.
Thank you to all of you who participated. A more in-depth summary is forthcoming later today or over the next few days, as it is otherwise a crazy week.
Patrick Comins, Meriden
