[CT Birds] Appreciation - again

David,

Perhaps you should put less thought into dissecting subject lines of my
posts. It was the subject line of an email, meant to summarize the day in a
succinct manner. It seems many people on this list knew exactly what I meant
- a good day of birds, many species, many individuals, but no rarities. I
put approximately one second of thought into it. I can assure you that I was
not at all "dismissing" the birds, and that I am not "missing the point of
observing nature".

You enjoyed the birds at your feeder, and so did I. I did not disparage the
Titmice or condemn the Cardinals. It was my understanding that my reply
yesterday adequately summed up my thoughts on the subject. I would ask you
not to assume to know my feelings towards the birds, seeing as you were not
able to discern them from my previous post.

The "nature of the hobby" should be unique to every individual. In this
case, my feelings are in line with your own, even though you seem unaware of
this because you do not know me. I rarely "chase" a bird, and frequent only
my neighborhood, town, and Fairfield when birding. I enjoy watching my
feeders as I do a lot of work in front of the computer. Even if we did have
different feelings, I do not think it's appropriate to put down another
person's thoughts.

The nature of this list is to discuss birding and rare birds, not semantics
or subject lines. I am a political science major, and I can go back and
forth on language and minutia all day long, but this is not the time or the
place. This will be the last I say on the subject, and I hope it ends here.
All other thoughts should be emailed directly to me.
