I just completed a Project Feederwatch count on Thursday so I can do this!
The rules are that you can only count birds attracted to your feeders that
you see at the same time. Results:
1 red-tail hawk
1 sharp-shinned hawk (hawks counted because they come for the birds and
squirrels who come to my feeder)
12 mourning doves
17 monk parakeets
1 red-bellied woodpecker
1 downy woodpecker
1 hairy woodpecker
6 blue jays
3 b-c chickadees
1 tufted titmouse
1 white-breasted nuthatch
1 Carolina wren
8 American robins
1 European starling
3 northern cardinals
1 song sparrow
3 white-throated sparrows
7 juncos
3 house finches
1 house sparrow
Other regular visitors who unaccountably didn't appear for the count on
Thursday are goldfinches and tree sparrows. I have also had crows,
red-winged blackbirds, cowbirds and grackles over the past week and often
get Coopers and red-shouldered hawks as well. We lost two large trees last
summer and the deer ate our rhododendrons around the feeder area giving less
cover for the birds which, I suppose, accounts for my low numbers of
individuals.
