I'm new at this and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to count the birds or the
bird types. Here's what species I get at my birdfeeders daily and the
numbers I counted at any one time. I'm afraid this list isn't too exotic! J
But it is an amazing form of education/entertainment for me.
4 mourning doves
2 red bellied woodpeckers
2 downy woodpeckers
12 - 18 dark eyed juncos (but there are many more visible on the perimeter
around the tree bases)
8 blue jays
5 tufted titmouse
9 black capped chickadees
1 carolina wren
6 northern cardinals
1 sparrow
1 red winged blackbird *thanks* for helping me id it
1 white breasted nuthatch
I have 2 suet feeders and 2 hanging feeders. I go through about 8 suet
cakes and about 40 pounds of birdseed a month. This is our first year in
the house and first year I feed in CT. I have been feeding a country mix
from ocean state job lots. Am looking forward to even more birds in the next
year. Would also like to learn more about the birds here in CT. (Am a
native Texan.) Perhaps more exotic seed would provide me with an opportunity
to view more species? What do you feed? How much in the winter?
