On Thursday, March 6 at 5:00 PM at Yale's Peabody Museum, Florence McBride will present a program entitled Haunting the Pond: A Year of Film-making. The event, free and open to the public, is in the museum's Ostrom Program Series with its focus on Nature in Art. Her presentation will include two films she made during a year of observing a small wooded property and glacial kettle pond in Hamden. During her many visits to the site she saw nearly 100 species of birds, a number of which are shown in the films.
Florence McBride is a talented film-maker, an enthusiastic birder and naturalist, and an award-winning teacher. She was among the first recipients of the "Nature Educator of the Year" award, a national prize established by the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History.
