I've been away from the list for a few days and I'm trying to catch up. It
is a very good idea to question the identification of large non-Mute Swans
in CT. The successful reintroduction/introduction of Trumpeter Swans in the
Great Lakes region means we now sometimes get these birds in CT. I took a
quick look at the photos Tim posted (Well done Tim) and I believe this is
indeed a Tundra Swan based on bill shape and size as well as facial skin
shape relative to the eye. There is apparently a small amount of yellow
near the eye (yellow is expected in almost all Tundras) but reportedly this
can occur in Trumpeter, though I emphasize "reportedly".
