[CT Birds] Tundra Swan ID

I raised the question last night, based solely on photos, of whether everyone had carefully eliminated Trumpeter Swan. I saw the bird this morning, and there's no doubt based on size and shape in direct comparison to Mute Swans that this is a Tundra. (Of course those of you who saw it yesterday probably know that). It was significantly smaller and shorter necked than the Mutes. Trumpeter averages slightly larger than a Mute. Some observers have also reported seeing yellow in the lores (although nobody mentioned size or plumage in reports yesterday, at least I don't think so). I couldn't see the yellow from my viewing distance.
My point: It's good with birds that pose ID problems to include some details on how similar species were eliminated. Even with photos, notes on key points are desirable. That also goes for birds that are common at one time of year but are being reported at a time when they are rare (like Broad-winged Hawk? :) )
