Haunting the Pond: A Year of Film-making
Two films and a talk

Focusing on one small piece of nature can produce exciting--and
sometimes surprising--results. For over a year, Hamden film maker
Florence McBride, an educator and enthusiastic birder, has
concentrated on a local three-acre wooded property and its glacial
kettle pond. During 2006, she observed nearly 100 species of birds
there and developed several short films from many hours of footage.

The program includes a viewing of two of these films, along with a
behind-the-scenes look with film maker McBride at the aesthetic and
practical decisions of shooting, narration and editing that went into
producing them.

This program is part of the 2007/2008 John H. Ostrom Program Series
"Nature in Art" at the Yale Peabody Museum.
