3/6 - I took a quick look at the marshes in Rocky Neck State Park (East
Lyme) late this afternoon and saw 7 green-winged teal, 2 American wigeon and 6
hooded merganser.
Earlier in the afternoon at Dodge Pond in Niantic (East Lyme) I observed many
fewer ducks than are normally there. There are still several hooded
merganser as well as the 2 pied-billed grebes that have been there all winter. I also
saw 2 Am. coots.
Has any one seen the chat in Old Lyme recently? I have seen it several times
this winter but stopped by today as I had intended to take a friend there
tomorrow, but it did not appear. On close inspection of the thickets it certainly
doesn't look like there is much left to feast on. If any one has seen it in
the last week, could you perhaps email me off line.
Thanks.
Carolyn Cimino
