Hi,

      Last year, I had pulled into Sherwood Island and driven past the traffic circle but I was near the right turn into the parking lot for the Pavilion.  Looking to my left, a male American Kestrel landed in a tree top in the large parking lot, so I pulled over and just started watching him with my binos.  It left the tree and started flying straight at me below the roof height of my car.  It got closer and closer as I down focused like crazy, to keep it in focus.  It came ridiculously close when all of a sudden it swept up over the roof of my car and took a shot at some little birds on the lawn to my right. It missed, but not by much.  Pretty smart bird.
