That is such a disturbing story about the SUV running over the sharp shinned
hawk. I never understand people's complete disregard for other living
creatures! very sad.
I know most of you are not big fans of pigeons(rock doves), but many years
ago, going west on route 34 after making the left turn to go into downtown
Derby, under the overpass was an injured pigeon sitting on the line dividing
both directions of traffic. Its apparent mate was walking around it in circles.
It was very sad & touching. I put on my flashing lights and waved down
traffic.
Amazingly the traffic in both directions stopped. I popped out of my car ,
quickly retrieved the injured pigeon and placed it on the side of the road
under the overpass. Its mate flew over to it and stayed with it.
I had to continue on my trip, and felt badly to leave it, but at least it
was out of mainstream traffic. I don't think that it is anthropomorphic to
attribute emotions to these 2 birds. These two birds were obviously a pair.
anyway, that is my story of birds in traffic.
