[CT Birds] 'Extinct' petrel

Further to a recent posting regarding the rediscovery of Beck's Petrel since
1920.  Ian Sinclair from South Africa just wrote to me.
    Unfortunately the Israeli birdwatcher was by no means the one who
rediscovered it. He just conveniently forgot to mention that he seems to
have ripped off others who saw it last year. Last April Ian and others had
them in the Coral seas. Some Ozzie birders who claimed seeing it were
dismissed.
Shirai organized a trip to the area and walla...he found them...no mention
of previous claims.
    I won't include Ian's description of him.  But how sad that
one-upmanship like this exists in such a benign hobby.
