[CT Birds] Close encounter with a Redtail

Yes.  The recent hawk stories remind me of my own close encounter with a Redtail. I'm not sure this fits into the category of the stories that have appeared here, but here goes anyway.
  Many years ago, of course, while driving down a country road in Bethlehem I spotted the redtail sitting on a post on the right side of the road. I slowed and stopped watching the bird. It sat but then glided across the road in front of me  to a post on the left side. I decided to see if I could get out without disturbing it. He still sat. I decided to get closer and for some reason picked up a stick. I crossed the road and got right next to him. I raised the stick and drew it gently across his breast. Finally we each moved away. I did not have the presence of mind at the time to see if he was banded. (He must have been).
