Hi, Carl!
According to the book "Hawks and Owls of Eastern North America" by Donald S. Heintzelman, Cooper's start nesting in late April. We had a successful nesting in our woods in 2006 - the Cooper's arrived in mid-late March to claim their territory, and were settled in by April 15th (definite nesting by the end of that month).

Subject: [CT Birds] nesting Cooper's?

The last two years I've had a pair of Cooper's hawks nesting in pines across the street from my house. This morning one was up in a hickory tree in my yard giving the "kek-kek-kek" call and then flew into the pines. Does anyone know when they start nesting? _______________________________________________ This list is provided by the Connecticut Ornithological Association (COA) for the discussion of birds and birding in Connecticut.
