March 10, 2008 - At 9 a.m. an adult bald eagle was perched on a sycamore tree overlooking Rochambeau Bridge on Fish Rock/River Road in Southbury. When I returned from Danbury via Sandy Hook, two adult bald eagles were circling the sycamore tree; one put in; and the other circled around joined by a very pale immature bald eagle. We've seen that pale bird quite often at Shepaug. It reminds me of a calico or tortoise shell (kitty) but of course it's far from it! Must be a female!
Shepaug site was active and busy yesterday with several immature birds seen by guests and volunteers. This Wednesday, March 12th is the final day of the eagle watch site season.
